While we are providing transport for wedding events, guests are responsible for arranging their own departure from La Foce/Pienza.
Please note that Uber and on-demand taxis do not exist in this part of Tuscany. All transfers must be booked at least 48 hours in advance.
Recommended Options:
• Private Driver (NCC): This is the most reliable way to reach Florence, Rome, or the airport. We suggest coordinating with other guests to split an 8-seater van.
• Train via Chiusi-Chianciano Terme: Book a private transfer to this station (25 mins away). From there, frequent trains run to Florence and Rome. You can check schedules at Trenitalia.com.(http://Trenitalia.com)

If you're planning to rent a car, please note that Italy requires an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your US/UK/Canadian license. Most rental agencies won't let you leave the lot without one, and it’s a legal requirement for driving in the country. They are cheap and easy to get at your local AAA (or equivalent) before you fly out!
Passports must be valid at least six months beyond departure.
Italy uses different plugs and higher voltage (230V) than the US/Canada. To keep your gadgets safe, here is what you'll need:
For Phones, Laptops, and Cameras: Most of these are "dual voltage" and only need a Plug Adapter (the piece that changes the prong shape). We recommend:
Universal Travel Adapter International Plug(https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Travel-Adapter-International-Plug/dp/B0CBF376VD/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ApwrfOPUUAz4m7L1r1uCU2tyOgVxxDqCOQDQWfmoD_1sljQXtg-85Js_Vu_JC-u8XOzsB1x-CGSJdmtSo1Vc3g9i7UL0kUdxK3bxIQaS2NvZkmox3-6PPxPfxHyRxhgQ17TpOKjN4BLydcOrtq63dB_kBZXqwRFZ2zl6IZEZnQbdS-bvDkW5VI-d99RkNA5tg_oss90EethLQPwABUAsXHuhPPCWNECdxPQ6ZGIHFKU.hEoghXCbHMD-omLKBASVwRwQtAE7QcPBO06_2PTqa0Y&dib_tag=se&keywords=universal+travel+adapter&qid=1772133126&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1#averageCustomerReviewsAnchor)
Type C Adapter(https://www.amazon.com/European-Adapter-International-Essentials-Amercian/dp/B0BY1399NX?th=1)
For Hair Tools (Blow Dryers, Straighteners): Standard US hair tools will "fry" if plugged directly into an Italian outlet. You will need a Power Converter like the one below to step down the voltage.
Voltage Converter(https://www.amazon.com/BESTEK-Universal-Converter-Charging-Worldwide/dp/B01E140XWA?th=1)
Check your hair tools for a label that says "110V-240V." If it says that, it’s "dual voltage" and you only need the cheap plug adapter! If it only says "120V," please use a converter or consider a travel-sized dual voltage version to avoid a "hair emergency!"
Early October brings mild days and cooler evenings.
• Daytime: 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit
• Evening: around 50 degrees
Bring a wrap, shawl, or light jacket for evening events as it can be quite chilly in Tuscany.
If visiting local churches:
• Shoulders and knees must be covered
• A light shawl solves this easily
• Men should avoid shorts inside sanctuaries
Tuscany has cobblestones, gravel paths, lawns, and stone terraces.
Block heels or wedges are encouraged for women.
Comfortable walking shoes recommended for daytime exploring.
Unlike in the United States, tipping in Italy is not mandatory and is always appreciated rather than expected.
• For restaurants and cafés, rounding up the bill or leaving 5–10% for excellent service is perfectly acceptable.
• You may wish to tip hotel staff, porters, and taxi drivers, typically €5–€20, depending on the service provided.
• Tips are best given in cash, and always in euros.
Pienza is a small and charming town, and having euros on hand is very helpful for:
• Gelato shops and cafés
• Small local boutiques
• Tipping
• Situations where card machines may be unavailable or unreliable
We recommend withdrawing euros upon arrival so you’re well prepared throughout your stay.
